When you visit the Barn on New River between Fleetwood and Glendale Springs, you’re between two towns with shops and stores to visit.

Although these towns are not big cities, they are thriving nonetheless. There are still things to do in these towns even though you have to look a little bit.

Take a look at some of the stores you can visit at nearby towns — all of which are less than 30 minutes away.

Greenhouse Crafts Shop

A family-owned shop since 1982, this shop has crafts, gifts, books, cards, and music. It’s a popular place for visitors to check out because it has unique items that are hard to find at other stores.

Some make it a tradition to visit this spot annually because of the items they sell and the friendly owners. If you’re driving on the parkway, don’t miss your chance to see this little spot.

Northwest Trading Post

Right next door is the Northwest Trading Post. This is a place where people stop while driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway. They have gifts, souvenirs, jewelry, fudge, and bread.

Next time you’re traveling on the Parkway, take a moment to stop here for a restroom break while traveling on the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Hill River Cycles

This may not be your typical spot to stop at while visiting the Barn at New River, but it is a fun one to stop at for the guys (and gal bike-lovers).

They have over 30 motorcycles, dirtbike, and ATVs available to buy. Walkthrough to see these fun bikes!

Fleetwood Antiques

This small store has old items, antiques, and glassware. It’s a store with history has soon as you walk through the doors. It has lots to look at!
